Bear Hunt is the most important PvE mode in Whiteout Survival. Your damage = your alliance's rewards. This guide covers everything from beginner basics to Gen 7+ meta troop ratios.

What Is Bear Hunt?

Bear Hunt (officially "Bear Trap" or "Polar Terror") is an alliance boss event where every member attacks a shared bear target. Total alliance damage determines rewards for everyone.

The Basic Formula

Your Bear Hunt damage depends on three factors, in order of importance:

1. Hero Composition (60%)  ← Heroes, levels, skills
2. Troop Count & Ratio (25%) ← How many troops, what type
3. Buffs & Tech (15%)     ← Research, gear, alliance tech

The Troop Ratio: 1/1/8 Meta (Gen 7+)

What It Means

Infantry : Lancer : Marksman
    1    :    1   :    8

80% of your troops should be Marksmen. Your Infantry and Lancers exist to protect the Marksmen and debuff the bear. The Marksmen do the damage.

How to Set It Up

1. Open your March Formation before attacking
2. Set Infantry to exactly 10% of your march capacity
3. Set Lancers to exactly 10%
4. Set Marksmen to exactly 80%
5. Do NOT auto-fill. Auto-fill uses balanced ratios which cuts your damage by 40-60%.

Why 1/1/8?

Bear attacks are single-target and relatively slow. You only need enough Infantry to absorb the first few hits (before your heroes' skills kick in). Lancers are there for the debuff, not damage. Marksmen have the highest single-target DPS in the game — let them carry.

Step-by-Step Attack Sequence

Before the Attack

• [ ] Activate Pet Buff (if you have the Bear pet)

During the Attack

1. Start the rally or solo attack
2. Watch hero skill rotations — some heroes (like Jeronimo) have timing-dependent buffs
3. After the attack, immediately heal and prepare for the next round
4. Alliance leaders: stagger your strongest attackers to avoid overkill on early rounds
